Decide where the water will live
A fixed pressurized tank may fit: You have a dedicated mounting position and want the hose ready beside the vehicle. Our WaterPORT lived along the passenger side of the 4Runner cargo area. That position kept the washing setup together and took space beside the drawers.
A portable pump may fit: You already have a suitable water container and a place for the faucet, and you want to compare a setup you can move at camp. GoSun’s Spray includes a pump, hoses and a clamping faucet. We haven’t used it or measured its flow, water use or battery runtime.
These solve different parts of the job. A tank stores water; a pump moves it. Do not compare a pump kit’s size with a filled tank without counting the container and water the pump also needs.
What you need to account for
- Water storage
- Current DayTank reference: 4 gal; 25.5 × 7.5 × 11 in; 18 lb empty. We have not confirmed that it is the model in our photo. Spray: plan a separate suitable water source and verify what the kit includes.
- Pressure or power
- DayTank: the current manufacturer listing describes a pressurized tank. Spray: GoSun lists a USB pump with an 18Wh battery. That battery figure does not establish how many washes or showers it will provide.
- At the washing spot
- DayTank: current listing includes an 8 ft hose and five-pattern nozzle. Spray: includes hoses and a clamping faucet, per GoSun. Check reach and faucet attachment at your actual table or washing area.
- Vehicle load
- Count the container, water, mount and accessories. WaterPORT’s current page gives conflicting filled weights; we do not choose one as a planning value. Confirm the filled load and compatible mount with the maker.
- Evidence
- WaterPORT: our older setup was used; exact model unknown. Current DayTank specifications are a reference. GoSun Spray: manufacturer research only; we have not used it.
Our WaterPORT ownership note shows the fixed cargo position. It does not establish pressure, flow or water capacity for that older tank.
Plan the whole washing station
- Find the refill point. Check what water is available at the campsite and whether your container can be filled there. Decide how much to carry for your trip rather than using an unknown runtime as a water budget.
- Set up within reach. Allow for opening the hatch, accessing drawers and reaching the basin or washing area. A mount, hose or faucet that fits one vehicle may not fit another.
- Check the support equipment. Confirm tank pressurization and mount instructions with WaterPORT, or charging and compatible water-source instructions with GoSun. Check the current included accessories before buying.
- Plan drainage. Follow the campground’s current water and wastewater instructions. Neither product should be assumed to make untreated water safe to drink.
If your current jug-and-basin setup already works, start by measuring its space and identifying the problem you want to fix. Our comparison does not establish that a powered kit saves water or that a larger tank is necessary.
