One of us grew up camping with family. After we got married, we kept that tradition going together and started camping more often.
Our fourth-generation Toyota 4Runner carried much of that gear. We built a rear kitchen using vehicle-specific drawer plans from The Adventure Index, which we found through Instagram. Our trip photographs come from our own archive. We also show credited manufacturer product images and original product illustrations.
How we label the gear we write about
Each product in our buying guides has a label explaining what we know about it:
- In our photo archive: the item or its brand appears in our own trip photos.
- Current-model reference, our model unconfirmed: a current product is shown as a size or feature comparison for older gear whose exact model we have not confirmed.
- Product comparison: we have not owned or used the product, and the page says so plainly.
- Another option: a product we haven't used, shown next to our own gear for comparison. The card says so, and its link is an affiliate link.
